PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT WE ARE SUBJECT TO THE RAPIDLY CHANGING PANDEMIC SITUATION AND ARE DOING THE BEST WE CAN TO BE RESPONSIVE AS QUICKLY AND EFFECTIVELY AS POSSIBLE.
CLEP TESTING PROCEDURES HAVE CHANGED; PLEASE READ!
CLEP can be a great way for students to pick up a missing general education or other classes needed for graduation. A list of CLEP equivalencies accepted by Buffalo State can be found here.
Participants/students should consult with their home institution/advisors to confirm the applicability of any CLEP test to their current needs. The Continuing Professional Studies office cannot provide any guidance in this regard.
COVID-19 directives will be in place, regarding social distancing and masking; therefore, seating is limited to the first 11 paid and confirmed registrants for each of the two sessions. Failure to comply with COVID-19 postings and directives may result in your removal from the testing center and the forfeiting of your testing administrative fee.
SPECIAL NOTES FOR CLEP TESTS LONGER THAN 90 MINUTES:
1. YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THE 11:00 A.M. SESSION IN ORDER FOR US TO MEET SOCIAL DISTANCING AND SANITIZATION REQUIREMENTS.
2. You must ALSO notify us at the time you request registration that your test requires more than 90 minutes.
3. If you require and have CLEP approved special accommodations, you must register for the 11 a.m. session and notify us at the time of registration.
The cost for each test is $89 paid to CLEP at the time of registering with them for the test itself, and $30 (nonrefundable) FOR EACH TEST SCHEDULED, payable online to our office to cover the test administration costs.
We reserve the right to cancel any testing date/session should issues related to the pandemic or college operations arise.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
The CLEP credits by examination program serves students who seek recognition for achievement acquired outside conventional college classrooms. It helps those entering Buffalo State as well as those already matriculated. Any undergraduate at Buffalo State may receive a maximum of 30 semester hours of credit, and with departmental approval may receive up to a maximum of 12 semester hours of credit toward a major program via proficiency examinations.
How to schedule a CLEP Exam:
Registering for a CLEP exam is a two-step process that requires two separate payments. The total cost for a CLEP exam = $119.00.
Test takers must create a personal account through the CLEP My Account registration portal. This account can be used to select the exam(s) you intend to take and pay the $89 CLEP exam fee. CLEP recommends that test takers utilize Google Chrome or Firefox browser.
Once you have registered, please e-mail your CLEP exam registration ticket to Buffalo State, Continuing Professional Studies, email@example.com. In the e-mail please indicate date and time that you would like to sit for the exam, as well as an alternate date and time should the preferred session be filled. Please include your phone number in the e-mail.
Pay the Administrative fee: PayPal is the only form of payment. The fee is $30 and is NONREFUNDABLE. You cannot sit for the exam without paying the administrative fee.
It is IMPERATIVE that you complete the above process with Buffalo State 72 hours in advance of your chosen date, and that you receive an email confirmation from us regarding confirmation of your registration, as well as the currently mandated COVID-19 directives that you will be required to comply with.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE REGISTERING FOR A CLEP TEST THAT IS LONGER THAN 90 MINUTES, YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THE 11:00 AM SESSION IN ORDER TO MEET SOCIAL DISTANCING AND SANITIZATION REQUIREMENTS.
