Coaching for the Modern Manager

Coaching for the Modern Manager is a hands-on leadership development program for supervisors ready to take the next step in their growth. As Level 2 in our Supervisor Training Academy, it builds on the communication skills from Level 1: The Holistic Communicator, shifting the focus from how you connect to how you lead.

Through four in-person sessions and virtual coaching check-ins, you’ll learn practical tools to strengthen your leadership, support your team, and foster a culture of collaboration. Each session is paired with a virtual community of practice for reflection, peer support, and feedback from an experienced coach. We’ll also check in with your nominating manager to support your continued growth on the job.

Whether you're leading now or preparing for a leadership role, this program will help you lead with clarity, empathy, and impact.

Session 1

  • Build team effectiveness (with FourSight® Thinking Profile)
  • Dive deep into Emotional Intelligence, with the SCARF® model 
  • Understand the power of Influence at work

Session 2

  • Mentoring and Coaching: identify similarities and differences 
  • Understand core coaching competences
  • Conduct coaching conversations

Session 3

  • Explore conflict styles with the Thomas–Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument®
  • Learn and apply the Crucial Conversations ® model 
  • Build a culture of psychological safety and trust

Session 4

  • Program review
  • Planning for implementation
  • Completion ceremony
