The Office of Continuing Professional Studies at SUNY Buffalo State is an approved testing provider for the CLEP exam.
Our role is ONLY to provide a secure, proctored test center.
Participants/students should consult with their home institution/advisors to confirm the applicability and acceptance of any CLEP test to their current academic needs; the Continuing Professional Studies office cannot provide any guidance in this regard.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
The CLEP credits by examination program serves students who seek recognition for achievement acquired outside conventional college classrooms. It helps those entering Buffalo State as well as those already matriculated. Any undergraduate at Buffalo State may receive a maximum of 30 semester hours of credit, and with departmental approval may receive up to a maximum of 12 semester hours of credit toward a major program via proficiency examinations.
CLEP can be a great way for students to pick up a missing general education class (or other classes) needed for graduation. A list of CLEP scores/equivalencies accepted by Buffalo State (valid for Buff State students only) can be found here.
