These scholarships are based on specific criteria which includes: academic merit, financial need, field of study, or a combination of criteria. Scholarship funding is made possible through donations from various sources who value your connection to military service and a Buffalo State education.

Tillman Military Scholars - Education. Leadership. Service.
The Tillman Military Scholars program supports our nation’s active and veteran servicemembers and their spouses by removing financial barriers to completing a degree program of choice. The scholarship funds cover not only direct study-related expenses such as tuition and fees, but also other needs, including housing and child care. (click here for more information).
Retroactive Scholarship -
Leave No Veteran Behind addresses this issue by taking private donations and applying them directly to Veterans’ student loan accounts paying off the debt in full. Veterans must have completed some form of higher education, suffer from economic hardship, and have student loans because they were not fully covered by existing educational programs. AMVETS -
AMVETS annually awards scholarships to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grandchildren. A son, daughter or grandchild of a deceased veteran is also eligible. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need, the scholarships go to deserving high school seniors, high school JROTC students and veterans pursuing a higher education.
