Registering for a CLEP exam is a two-step process that requires two separate payments. The total cost for a CLEP exam is $123.00.
Step 1:
Test takers must create a personal account through the CLEP My Account registration portal. This account can be used to select the exam(s) you intend to take and pay the $93 CLEP exam fee.
Step 2:
Once you have registered with CLEP, please visit the CLEP test dates list and select a first choice and alternate test dates and times.
NOTE: You may only take one test per exam time. If you wish to take two exams on any given date, you will need to register for both the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. sessions, and you are required to pay the test administration fee for each session. You may also be required to select an alternate test date if there are not available seats in each section.
NOTE: If you are taking an exam that is longer than 90 minutes, or if you require, and CLEP has approved, special accommodations, you MUST select a 11:00 a.m. test session.
You will then e-mail your CLEP exam registration ticket to Buffalo State, Continuing Professional Studies, clep@buffalostate.edu.
In the e-mail, please indicate your first and alternate choice dates/times to sit for the exam. Please also include your phone number in the e-mail. NOTE: If you are taking an exam that is longer than 90 minutes, or if you require, and CLEP has approved, special accommodations, you MUST ADVISE US in this email.
Your scheduled date and time will be confirmed via return email, at which time you will also receive the link to the payment window.
Pay the Administrative fee: PayPal is the only form of payment. The fee is $30 and is NONREFUNDABLE. You cannot sit for the exam without paying the administrative fee.
It is IMPERATIVE that you complete the above process with Buffalo State 48 hours in advance of your chosen date, and that you receive an email confirmation from us regarding confirmation of your registration.

Saturday, January 6, 9:00 am and 11:00 am (Registration and payment must be received by Wednesday, January 3, 2024).
Saturday, February 3, 9:00 am and 11:00 am (Registration and payment must be received by Wednesday, January 31).
Saturday, March 9, 9:00 am and 11:00 am (Registration and payment must be received by Wednesday, March 6).
Saturday, April 6, 9:00 am and 11:00 am (Registration and payment must be received by Wednesday, April 3).
Saturday, May 11, 9:00 am and 11:00 am (Registration and payment must be received by Wednesday, May 8).
Saturday, September 7, 9:00 am and 11:00 am (Registration and payment must be received by Wednesday, September 4).
Saturday, October 5, 9:00 am and 11:00 am (Registration and payment must be received by Wednesday, October 2).
Saturday, November 2, 9:00 am and 11:00 am (Registration and payment must be received by Wednesday, October 30).
There will be no testing in June, July, or August, 2024.
On the exam day, be prepared to bring the following to the test center:
A valid registration ticket from CLEP's My Account registration portal.
Identification: Your driver’s license, passport or other government-issued identification that includes your photograph and signature. You will be asked to show this identification to be admitted to the testing area. The name on your ID must match the name on your registration ticket. Please visit the CLEP website for complete identification requirements.
Please bring your own pen/pencil.
If you are taking a Foreign Language exam, please bring your own headphones.
Please note:
The CLEP exam is given in CHASE HALL, Room B-15 (this room is in the basement of the building). You should use the front/main entrance on the left side of the building; you may use the stairs or take the elevator down.

Candidates will receive a printed copy of the "Candidate Score Report" at the conclusion of the exam.
Additional CLEP Transcript Request Forms from the CLEP website can be used to request additional transcripts.
Please be on time; arrive early enough to allow extra time to process your entrance to the center due to social distancing measures.
You may not repeat an exam of the same title within three months of the initial testing date. If you retake the exam, your administration fee will be considered invalid, your score will be cancelled, and any test fees will be forfeited.

SPECIAL NOTES FOR CLEP TESTS LONGER THAN 90 MINUTES:
1. YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THE 11:00 A.M. SESSION IN ORDER FOR US TO MEET SOCIAL DISTANCING AND SANITIZATION REQUIREMENTS.
2. You must ALSO notify us at the time you request registration that your test requires more than 90 minutes.

The cost for each test is $93 paid to CLEP at the time of registering with them for the test itself, and a $30 (nonrefundable) fee FOR EACH TEST SCHEDULED, payable online to our office to cover the test administration costs.
We reserve the right to cancel any testing date/session should issues related to college operations arise. If it is necessary for us to cancel any session, you will notified via the email address you provided at registration. You will be given priority registration for any future testing session as soon as testing is able to resume.
