Tristin J. Salter has worked at Buffalo State for over 16 years.  During that time, she has contributed in multiple ways through her personal and professional activities, both at the college and in the community.

She has worked with the Middle Early College High School program since its inception in 2015, and has led that program for the last year. Tristin coordinates the orientation, registration, and a multitude of support services for approximately 200 MECHS students; she is known for her hands-on approach and outreach to students to help ensure that they have every opportunity to succeed.  Tristin has also taught College Writing 101 & 102 in the program, as well as creating a learning community based on issues of social justice specifically designed for Middle Early College students.

Tristin has partnered with Charter School for Applied Technologies to design and implement a Summer Bridge Program for 50 rising sophomore students. These students have the opportunity to be on Buffalo State’s campus to take a UNC course (Mastering the Academic Environment) and have built-in study time as well as time for weekly workshops. The students will be provided with instruction, tutoring, mentoring, advisement, and help strengthening their non-cognitive skills.

Tristin is deeply sensitive to issues of social justice in our community, and was selected to sit on the newly formed Buffalo State Social Justice Institute Committee.
